For journalists & writers
OfficialCost publishes verified cost-of-living, salary, tax, and AI-pricing data where every number is traceable to a dated, named source — not scraped forum guesses. All of it is free to cite with attribution.
Every figure carries its evidence: the source, the retrieval date, and a confidence score computed from source quality, corroboration, and freshness. Values backed by a single source are labeled as such; numbers disagreeing across sources are flagged and resolved transparently. Our full method is public: how we verify data, source methodology and confidence scoring.
Each flagship index is a story with the data work already done — rankings, methodology, and citations included:
Cite: every index page has a copy-paste citation block. Name OfficialCostand link the page — that's the whole license for editorial use.
Embed: paste an index URL into WordPress, Ghost, or Discourse and it expands into a live, always-current table automatically (oEmbed) — or copy the iframe snippet from any index page.
Analyze: machine-readable CSV/JSON for every index and ranking lives under /datasets, with a read-only developer API for deeper work.
